Red is the last King Crimson album of the 1970's. It serves as a conclusion of one era in the group's musical development and exploration through its fusion of the heavy metal sound from the previous two albums, whilst blending the jazz rock moods of the Lizard era with the Mellotron dominated sound of early Crimson era.
